I really love this song, but I feel like the music video kinda cheated on the lyrics. I mean this video reduces the song to a very macho/patriotic/archaic vision of a couple whereas the lyrics are anything but. This song expresses the difficulty to let go and the struggle to fight after what you achieved tumbles down. This is true poesy, and the reason why people like country music

Great song thanks mostly to Alison. I used to live next to Homestead Airforce Base in the 80's and those guys who are married and go to foreign countries should know, their young wives are home alone, lonely and horny and they mostly do go looking for other fun while he is probably doing the same in some other country.

this happened to me when i came home on leave a day early to suprise her. Found out later while still home she was engaged to him. together since high school and so loved her. Going back knowing another year would go by before i could come home again was the loneliest empty feeling. Still working on the whiskey. Salute!!
