Just a quick correction...the orig. to this by James and Bobby Purify wasn't out in '60 but rather '67. I remember it well when it came out..still one of my all time favs too.

The Box Tops had to compete with some powerful groups for radio air time in the 60s and were often underrated. Another favorite by this group is NEON RAINBOW. If you hadn't heard it, check it out.

I have always loved this song, but until 5 min. ago...have never heard this version from the Box Tops. I think it's magnificent. I love that guitar meandering around in the background so easily...and as someone else mentioned..love the bells. Those bells seem a lost art in music. Does anybody know if these are studio musicians playing on this, or is it the true Box Top lineup? And if this singer truly was a teen when recording this....he must have had a lot of miles on his soul. joel in tucson

This guy has the best voice of anyone I haver heard singing this,better than Jon Legend of Soulman.Sad hes dead and he was a teenager singing this .........Amazing.......Damn the 60s was soooo much better than the CRAP we have now.
