Neil Innes, Vivian Stanshall and the boys' version of the Bobby "Boris" Pickett & The Crypt-Kickers' classic. Of course, Viv has the voice for it. A long excerpt from "Do Not Adjust Your Set" - with more from the Bonzo Dog - is also on this channel.

I wonder if Elton John got the idea for Crocodile Rock from this song. It does sound similar, but then again, so any songs have the same chord structure. Just an observation,

A little disturbed by how much Vivian Stanshall looks like Mark Gatiss. Who I think would also be quite comfortable on that set.

A quick Halloween posting. This is not some instagram-style effect to make it into a grainy black and white video, but actually shot that way. Old video from the pre-Python program Do Not Adjust Your Set. (and yes, the band had THAT Neil Innes.. the one who sang Brave Sir Robin in The Holy Grail).Bonzo Dog Doodah Band - "Monster Mash" - '68

Marvellous. Just yet another example of Viv's genius (with terrific support here, of course).

How did I live through the 60's as a child and NOT see this excellent version until right now?????

Now we know how Elton John and Bernie Taubin tumbled upon the Crocodile Rock. Listen to the intro and especially the uptempo ending.

Today all of my #coversunday songs are going to be covers of #Halloween songs. First up is The Bonzo Dog Doodah Band's cover of Bobby "Boris" Pickett's "Monster Mash" from 1968. I'm not sure where this clip is from, but it seems most likely to be from *Do Not Adjust Your Set*, where The Bonzo Dog Doodah Band was the house band.
