Bonnie Raitt and Rickie Lee Jones perform "Angel From Montgomery" live at the Farm Aid concert in Champaign, Illinois on September 22, 1985. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

Beautifully done version of a beautiful song. Two of my favorite musicians with a song from another great singer/song writer, John Prine

I wish that Bonnie & Rickie would go into the studio and do this song some proper justice. The thing about their performance here was that it was totally impromptu, unrehearsed and with the Live Aid/Farm Aid style of concerts, the performers had a very limited time allowed for setting up and usually went on without a sound check. And when there was an acoustic set like this, the stage hands and roadies are setting up a full up band backstage so that sometimes hurt the acoustic set(Neil Young griped about this happening at Live Aid). So, all things considered, Bonnie and Rickie did very good here.

forget the outfit: the singing of this song by RLJ leaves much to be desired. She feels it OK, but voices just over the top, and wrong (IMHO).

Rickie Lee, what was you thinking when you got dressed? You're looking more like that lil figurine from the forties..when the Chinese were flat out making little Dutch girls leaning forward to plant a kiss on the little Dutch boy....great combo, great voice and song. Thanks for posting!
