None of those unnecessarily acrobatic gospel runs that have plagued us since Mariah Carey. Just a damn beautiful voice with plenty of soul.

It's because tubas are the antithesis of cool. They are also heavy to carry around. On the plus side, carrying one around does build muscle and also tubas are known to increase lung capacity. I know all this from personal experience.

First saw Bonnie at the Sugarbush Folk Festival in 1972 with Tom Rush and Maria Muldaur. Last time was in 2003 when she appeared in San Francisco with Joan Baez in protest of the Iraq War buildup.
