En 1978 lo llevó al éxito rotundo Bonnie Pointer, cantante de música disco y soul nacida en East Oakland el 11 de julio de 1950.Comenzó su carrera junto a sus hermanas en el grupo The Pointer Sisters a principios de los 70s. En 1978 emprendió su carrera en solitario firmando con Motown. Ese mismo año se casó con el productor Jeffrey Bowen. En esta discográfica lanzó dos álbumes y numerosas versiones de los primeros éxitos de Motown. "Heaven Must Have Sent You", es uno de los temas más reconocidos de la época de la música disco.

Bonnie Pointer is still alive. June died in 2006. Ruth and Anita still tour as the Pointer Sisters with Ruth's daughter Issa and granddaughter Sadako alternating as the 3rd member. Also, Ruth and Anita sound just as good today as they did 40 years ago, if not better. So I don't know what's up with Bonnie's voice here. They are both older than her.

Bonnie actually wrote several of the early Pointer Sister songs including FAIRYTALE. She also formed the Pointer Sisters with June Pointer, before deciding to embark on a solo career. Obviously her solo career only generated one big hit with this (a cover of a Motown classic). She looks shocking here though. I realise she is in her 60,s but lose that hideous WIG.
