My interpretation: Everyone has goals and dreams to keep them going but like everything and everyone nothing remains the same or lasts forever. He dreamed of building towers and did so on land but Earth has changed - he's older and global warming has caused the oceans to rise. He now has to challenge himself by overcoming new obstacles (taking a raft to continue his dream of building towers). But in the end the towers couldn't withstand the impact and wear of time and nor could he.9 years ago

The video has a different message than the song... fyi. The vid is the man remembering and yearning for the good old days of sexual conquest. The song is contemporaneous. It's about sex in a dorm at college during summer break.9 years ago

I think the video is open to interpretation. I got the feeling it had themes of industry/tradition/History/culture crumbling. The dying fisherman, the crumbling symbol of his livelihood. I might be entirely wrong of course 9 years ago
