Hey folks,Do you remember this PBS Buddy Holly tribute show which was done in 1988?  In addition to Bobby Vee, there were a lot of other performers featured.  For me, however, Bobby Vee's medley of "What to Do," "Crying, Waiting, Hoping," and "Listen to Me" was the highlight of the show.  Vee would have been about 46 at the time of this show, and his hair had obviously receded quite a bit since his teenage years, but if you look carefully at his face as he is singing, it seems to me he is truly feeling the lyrics as well as singing them.  Much of Bobby Vee's career work has been a reflection of Buddy Holly's music and influence, and the result of that influence has been some very fine work by Bobby Vee.  I, for one, have for many years truly appreciated Bobby Vee's total body of work, much as I have long appreciated Buddy Holly's.Bobby Vee's Holly medley was truly touching for me.  This video says he was singing with the Crickets, but he was introduced by Kris Kristofferson as singing with the Ricochets.  I recorded this on VHS tape at the time, and I still enjoy the show, but it would be nice to have the whole show on a good quality DVD.  I hope others may enjoy Bobby Vee as much as I have since I first heard him shortly after 3 February 1959.  If you look at some of his recent appearances which can be found on YouTube, Vee's hairline does not seem to have receded any further, but his hair is now silver.  His look is a bit more mature, but in spite of the passing years, he still manages to keep something of his youth in his face, and he still brings a smile to my face and a warmth in my memories. Best wishes,Dave Wile
