Well, it ain't Sinatra. Thank goodness. I guess I'm one of those people who likes music. If it's well-done, well-sung, well performed I'm on board. I've been riding Dylan's train almost from the beginning and I'll be there at the end - either mine or his. Well done, Bob. Thank you.

so if your name wasn't Bob Dylan and you put this song out what do you think would happen? I think a person has the right not to like someone. I don't expect any artist to create stuff they did in their youth. I just don't like the whole waa waa thing and all the flat notes. He clearly has the ability to use his voice creatively which was always part of his "trip" which was very charming. The Lay Lady Lay, Nashville Skyline is a great album to illustrate this. I think having money and also having people love anything you do because you happen to have charisma makes for lazy creativity. It really doesn't matter what I think go ahead love this album.

Never been a Dylan fan, but this is a bold and brave move, and while it's not something I see myself listening to very often, I do appreciate it.It shows emotion indeed, and that's what really matters in music. Today's music is all perfect and shiny, but has left emotion behind. Music is not about pitch correction or sticking to a grid. Also, I'm all for good singers, but bashing Dylan for his shaky pitch here is pointless. It's like dissing Joy Division because Ian Curtis sang out of tune. That's just not what the music was about. Same goes for Dylan here, albeit in a different context.

bill white you so remind me of my dad in the 60's when I started listening to R&R. You could hear his mind slam shut clear across the street. Then as now people are talking about themselves not the music.

at a guess there is a coterie of 'purists' an "analog brigade" (and i love and know analog so don't read too much into that) led by T. Bone Burnett that love this sort of "no effects, no overdubs," aesthetic. i know that the man who produced this record said recently in Sound on Sound, that T. Bone and others "called me," to congratulate him. i suspect that Dylan can say, "well, the real studio pros loved it," to offset criticism. make a 'purist' argument. of course they fucking did - they were paid to produce and perform on it. but i really SHOULD buy it and listen. (I don't believe in ripping of even rich dudes like Dylan by listening to whole albums "for free," online.) does anyone know if this album sold?

sheer genius or the caterwauling of a bitter, deluded 74 year old grumpier old man? ladies and gentlemen - the solution is in your hands! who KNOWS what to make of Dylan Plays Sinatra? i do feel that (being a huge fan, a fan yes, a huge fan, no, of NEITHER) that a prime Sinatra could probably have done a killer version of Like A Rolling Stone because of his phenomenal phrasing. That is, when Sinatra would slow his singing down to the the speed of speech - I think his Sinatra 'speaks' Dylan particularly on LARS would have been more enjoyable than than Dylan 'singing' Frank's various tunes. But who the hell knows. Sing, children!

This pathetic rendition of an insipid song is no longer worth commenting on.

Well, there’s Dylan, and then there’s Dylan, and the there’s Dylan, etc. He is a great poet, composer, entertainer;-absolutely no question of that (to me). But there is no Dylan. He has no identity other than the ones he invents, he is constantly redefining himself. I’ll only say IMO this album will prove to be his biggest flop.

What's interesting, that Dylan sings extremely well. I do think he had fixed his cracking voice with the doctors. Just compare his voice from 2 previous albums with this.
