Crimson Snowfall

I’m a Mormon and served a mission in Russia. One of my best friends in the mission worked in the office helping order plane tickets and such. One day he found this song on the computer and fell in love with it. He showed it to me one day while I was eating lunch in the office with him and our companions. I asked him if he could put it on a flash drive for me and he did. I would plug the flash drive into our portable DVD player to listen to this song since we didn’t have computers in our apartments. Here I was, 1/2 a world away from my home, -40 degree temperatures outside, surrounded by people who spoke a language I could barely understand, but this song made me feel that everything was gonna be just fine. The mission eventually changed a lot. First a lot of my friends headed home because their 2 years we’re up. Eventually even this close friend of mine had to head back to the U.S. Before long, I didn’t recognize any faces around me. It brought me to tears some nights as I felt so alone working such long weeks without my dear friends. But I still had that old flash drive and every night I would play this song. It would take me back to simpler times when everything was so fun. I’ve been home for 4 years now and the song still gives me those bitter-sweet feelings. It is truly a masterpiece.

Absolutely beautiful song!! I have a question for you nice folks out there in Comment Land. In the 60's (I believe) a lovely instrumental came out and the beginning of, "Sleep Away" reminds me of it. Does anyone know the song I'm referring too"?? The beginning of that song is reminiscent of the beginning of, "Sleep Away." PLEASE don't think I'm taking anything from, "Sleep Away." Sleep Away stands on its own. It's beautiful. I'd simply like to know (remember) the other song as well. Thanks!!
