Nice but I prefer this gorgeous song as a ballad - Chet Baker's version particularly.

Basie said there are two perfect tempos for every tune. This really works as a swinger.

Had the pleasure of knowing Blue and hearing him often and sang with him and his group in the early seventies. He left us too soon. He played at The Times Jazz and Supper Club in Studio City. Oliver Nelson was a regular late night visitor as well when he was working at Universal Studios.

If there was a vocalist, I'd agree that I'd rather hear it slower so the words have more weight. Without words there's no harm in swinging it for the horn, as I see it! He plays "When I Fall in Love" on the same album for your slow dance. ;)

Ol' Blue can play, but this is supposed to be, and is infinitely more beautiful as, a ballad!
