The 11th song from her 2007 album, Awkward Annie.

Alternative Titles; Wild Mountain Thyme & Will You Go Lassie

Extra Vocals; John Hudson & Eddi Reader

This is a traditional song, that Kate has made her own.

Lyrics;

Oh the summertime is coming

And the trees are sweetly blooming

And the wild mountain thyme

Grows around the blooming heather

Will ye go, Lassie go?

And we'll all go together

To pluck wild mountain thyme

All around the blooming heather

Will ye go, Lassie go?

I will build my love a bower

Near yon' pure crystal fountain

And on it I will build

All the flowers of the mountain

Will ye go, Lassie go?

And we'll all go together

To pluck wild mountain thyme

All around the blooming heather

Will ye go, Lassie go?

If my true love she were gone

I would surely find another

To pluck wild mountain thyme

Grows around the blooming heather

Will ye go, Lassie go?

And we'll all go together

To pluck wild mountain thyme

All around the blooming heather

Will ye go, Lassie go?

Let us go, lassie, go

Sorry for bugging anybody here, just noticed some lyric incorrections and thought to correct them. When it says "to pluck" It is actualy "to pull." When it says "Build," in the second verse it's actualy "Carve" and when it's "Were gone, (therd verse) it's actualy "won't come."

I'm using this song in my GCSE drama piece. It's such a pretty song, but it feels very sad. It's played during a funeral scene.

My grandmother sang this song to all of us. Its beauty and power stir me to tears now that all the others are gone, and I must carry on by myself.

this version is amazing and can make me cry. I also love it by the Silencers and Rod Stewart

I get the strangest feeling from this song. It calms me like nothing else. It makes my soul feel "safe"- like I could just stop living and my life could end, but it would all just be okay. Its so peaceful..

Beautiful indeed, but the Eddie Matthews and Maz version of WMT was the first one I got to know, so it sticks in my mind as "the original". Time signature sounds like 6/8 or even 12/8 to me, by the way. =)

I like the Silencer's version but it is kind of way over produced. This is a great version and more organic. You can imagine her sitting down in a pub and playing it like this. As to the title well it is known as various things. Van Morrison called in Purple Heather. Others call it Will Ye Go Lassie Go. The lyric itself is of course taken form Tannahill's "Braes of Balquhidder" So even Wild Mountain Thyme isn't the original name for the lyric.

this is mince, why is it some artists are so intent in murdering some songs, the version by the silencers is far superior to this, she has a nice voice but i definitely don't like this version of of "Wild Mountain Thyme", she doesnt even call it by its proper name, she coaals it "Blooming Heather" just shows the ingnorance of it even more

This is the best version of this song. The first version I ever heard...was on a compilation CD where I worked......it got lost for a few months. ha...in my car.

yes. the low emphasis on the beat can make it a bit difficult to pick out, but it is in 3/4 (that doesn't necessarily make it a waltz, though)
