+BlaineCraner I think that high pitched sound was pretty obvious. It really caught me off guard when listening to it the first time and was distracting the following times after. You could really hear how boomy and overcompressed the bass was in this version as well. I think the way they ducked some of the other tracks using the kick as the trigger for a compressor is also rather strange at the end there. It makes it sound like the sound is being overpowered, like there isn't enough headroom or something (and also it's just headache inducing because your brain processes it not as an effect but a problem with your hearing, hearing that compressor pumping in and out).I mainly found it odd that the high-pitched sound wasn't addressed on the final album version. I'm not really sure what the hell it even was >.< In any case, I actually find this version more interesting. If the production was more centered around this style or at least the mix was given more attention even as it is here now, I truly think it would be better. I like "the original" but I find myself not giving it too much replay value because I think it somehow lost the uniqueness it has here. The sections kind of just bleed in with each other, whilst here, the contrast in rhythm & feel between parts makes it more interesting - more musical and less generic in a way; at least that's how it comes off...PS- There are many additional comment I could make, but if I were to make just one, it would certainly be nice if they actually used a real accordion for that lead-in part which goes into the middle section.

This version is better. Why? The weird high pitched sound is gone (not the flute, dumbasses!). You have to have good hearing to actually hear it, but nonetheless with a flaw like that the production values of the whole album just plummet.
