Originally, Silver Heels was a tune performed by Fleetwood Mac and written by band member Bob Welch. The group Blaze from Cincinnati, Ohio gave the song a much different interpretation...... they funked it up! Yes, with the help of Guitarist Bob Parissi from the group Wild Cherry, the song Silver Heels became a great Top 40 jam. Even though the song is well crafted and catchy, it still didnt do well nationally and barely made the Billboard Hot 100 stalling at #95. As a regional song in Cincy, Silver Heels got a lot of airplay on the local top 40 hit station called WKRQ where it went all the way to #7.

Since I came from Cincinnati, they played this song all the time even though it was not on the charts it was always requested. I had not heard it since it came out in the mid seventies. Not all good songs will always make the charts.

I was 5 and used to get down to this song, hahahahaaa. I went to Kings Island all the time, for all I know I saw them there. Man times sure were alot more fun back then than they are now. People are all stuffy in Cincinnati, I don't care for living here at all.

I used to go see Blaze at a club in Dayton, OH called The Echo and I remember when they released this song on a 45. I bought one and still have it. I had never heard the original Fleetwood Mac version at that point...nor did I know this funky "Etta James" person. Because of this song...I found out about both. Loved this band..

I thoroughly enjoy this. If they ruined this song, it's lost on me because I have never heard the original version. So I guess I have a luxury there.

Good Lord. My favorite song in 4th grade (Winton Forest in Forest Park) I think I remember seeing these guys before a Reds game back in the day. Thanks.

Peter, I can vividly remember that it was Blaze that was there. That was the 1st time I remember hearing "Silver Heels". Anyway - it was an awesome concert @ an awesome time in "our" lives - wouldn't you agree? Here in my early 50's, all I can do is remember the "good ole days". Certainly, there aren't many things to look forward to these days as we will look back 30+ years from now!

@SDB1958 I was at grad night but I don't remember these guys. I think Dicky Betts and Great Southern played in this small outside venue.

These guys went on to become The Young Invaders. I was on WEBN Album Project 6 with them, as well as WXIX-TV Video Project One in 1981.
