Fantastic clip of Fats, although it would have been nice if the Rock 'n Roll Evening "News" had spelled his last name correctly. It's Mann.

looking for the other performance that night....Lieber and Stoller's "One Bad Stud." The Blasters opened the show with it.

We gave Fats a ride to the Ash Grove in LA where he was opening for Freddie King and playing in Freddie's band. He always remembered a favor..somehow he got us backstage passes to a Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Johnny Otis Show concert at the Hollywood Palladium. This was about 1969 or 70... I was 14 I think (my older bro drove)

According to Paladin bassist Thomas Yearsley, Fats got the call from Phil Alvin to join the Blasters on Sunday December 22, 1985 as he and the Paladins were loading their gear at the San Antonio club where on the previous night they played the last gig of their 4 city tour. Fats really wanted that gig and when he walked back to the van after the call, he was happier than a midget at a mini-skirt convention!

Sounds really good! Just discovering this great band, even though I saw them open for Queen back in 1980.
