I'm gonna get pounded on by 10,000 Despair Faction members--if that's still a thing--but has Davey's songwriting matured at all since his Sing the Sorrow days? They still sound so teenager-ish and kind of cringeworthy at times ("I know a little sin in which we can aspire"). At least on CexCells, the production was polished and worked, here, everything sounds so unextraordinary and drained of feeling, it's sad and why I fell out of BA and AFI as a whole.Burials disappointed me too, although not as much as Crash Love had. Both albums had worthy songs, but I feel like Decemberunderground was their swan song. It was poppy, but also typically dark and dramatic like Sing the Sorrow, but everything else by them sounds like an identity crisis to me. But meh, they'll still always hold a place in my heart.

And anyway, why are you so enraged about this song? Does it threaten your beliefs somehow? If that's the case, then clearly your beliefs are shaky to begin with. And if you can't deal with the mere existence of someone who shares a different opinion... How are you functioning in daily life!?

Have you listened to Burials? Do you think the same about it? I personally really enjoyed CL (Okay I feel Better Now is actually up there in my favorite AFI songs), and I think Burials is just phenomenal.

Why are people outraged by Davey expressing HIS beliefs in a song that HE wrote???? Don't fucking listen to it if you disagree or if it offends you (you must be a delicate creature hidden from the world if one song really upsets you so much, ffs), he's not stopping you from believing what you want, just as you can't stop him from believing what he wants. Just enjoy the music or take a fucking hike.

Right now I think i'd rather stay on Blaqk Audio's side. I've lost all interest in AFI's stuff simply because it doesn't sound like the AFI we all used to know. And yeah bands evolve from time to time, and yeah some fans are open minded but for some of us that is just not the case. It's a good thing we've got both plates to choose from the table. I'd stick with Blaqk Audio any time of the year.

I always hear this song and think of Davey seducing a nun. XD But seriously, I picture this song as something about enjoying the life that you have instead of wasting it on what could potentially be false hope.

That's exactly what my husband said awhile back. Crash Love was decent but after hearing some of their older albums, it really was in some ways a let down. I do hope they'll be writing another album soon!

I do consider myself a true fan of Blaqk Audio, yet I know little about AFI or what dislikes Davey has expressed in those songs/interviews, because well, I'm not to fond of AFI's music. I've tried, but it just isn't my genre. That being said, I think this is a great song, lyrically and whatsnot.
