Hyfrydol is the better tune for this hymn. Nice trees in the nave., very "green", PC, etc,Pity it's not a valid sacramental marriage, just a "Henry VIII fake" Anglicans and other separated brethren, please note this news report from 2007:"For the second time in a week, Pope Benedict XVI has corrected what he says are erroneous interpretations of the Second Vatican Council, reasserting the primacy of the Roman Catholic Church and saying other Christian communities were either defective or not true churches". Please, please, understand that ecumenism is a form of false charity. True charity demands the truth- protestants return to your spiritual home, your Christian birthright, come home to Rome!

Love divine, all loves excelling, joy of heaven, to earth come down; fix in us thy humble dwelling; all thy faithful mercies crown! Jesus thou art all compassion, pure, unbounded love thou art; visit us with thy salvation; enter every trembling heart. Breathe, O breathe thy loving Spirit into every troubled breast! Let us all in thee inherit; let us find that second rest. Take away our bent to sinning; Alpha and Omega be; end of faith, as its beginning, set our hearts at liberty. Come, Almighty to deliver, let us all thy life receive; suddenly return and never, nevermore thy temples leave. Thee we would be always blessing, serve thee as thy hosts above, pray and praise thee without ceasing, glory in thy perfect love. Finish, then, thy new creation; pure and spotless let us be. Let us see thy great salvation perfectly restored in thee; changed from glory into glory, till in heaven we take our place, till we cast our crowns before thee, lost in wonder, love, and praise. Charles Wesley, 1707-1788

"changed from glory into glory, till in heaven we take our place" praise God for these words taken from 2 corinthians. Those who behold the Lord are changed by his Spirit preparing us for our eternity with him, hallelujah

@Walter Cairns - so am I, and worse, I attend the Church of England .... right into what was considered the Tory heartland! They keep a deal quieter now as some views (hang em flog em, keeping coal in the bath etc) sound decidedly unChristian. I'm sure you will have heard of Richard Tawney (Beveridge Report etc). Public school, Oxbridge but ...... served in the ranks in WW1 and described himself as a Christian Socialist, so ..... it can be done. You don't need a psychologist - just remember not to confuse faith with religion. It's what people do that matters. Anyway, you obviously like a cracking good hymn:)

Thank you for sharing this beautiful service with the world. The hymn is glorious. The choir and congregation are to be commended for their thrilling singing and Mr. Quinney for his artistry at the organ. And, for Mr. Cairns (below), I'm not a psychologist, but your tears are likely a special touch by the Holy Spirit. Pray for more. God is love!

Such a beautiful hymn, however I like it much better when sung to the tune of Hyfrydol. I want this hymn played at my wedding.

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (May 25), I played this for Sunday School Assembly. However, it was to the tune, HYFRYDOL, composed by Rowland H. Prichard (1811-1887). It went with our Sunday School Lesson for today, which came from Leviticus 19:18, Deuteronomy 6:4-9, and Mark 12:28-34, which was entitled "The Greatest Commandment." This is a good hymn to sing if these are your Scriptures of the Day, regardless of denomination.

Makes me wish to return to the Church on Sundays just cant get over the new age idea of tossing what isn't currently popular with people out of the HOLY BIBLE and rewriting it . Such as the gays and their nonsense . Let the pews be empty and the word pure if that is how it end up so be it
