The new 2014 Black Pyramid album with a reformed lineup will have an extended track even more epic than this one

I bought my old turntable back from my brother. A Technics SL-D2. Im gonna buy the first two double LPs and the two CDs. Check out my channel for some older bands and songs that jam like Lucifers Friend, Atomic Rooster, Blessed Death etc.

It's being honest with myself and with others. I felt I was not successful enough in my former band, so I formed one with the intent of reaching a larger audience by deliberately being derivative of certain bands. Of course, for a long time I wouldn't admit this, and eventually lied to even myself about my original intentions. Now I really like to as I have learned to value honesty.

And I'm sure I'm overthinking this, but Harold Bloom's "The Anxiety of Influence" has it that originality only comes from a struggle with the idea of originality. Like, the influence of Marlowe tormented Shakespeare, and Joyce hated his debt to Shakespeare. Since anything worthwhile derives from some tradition [this is the value of 'culture'], the trick's to elaborate your own branch of the tradition, which you've clearly done, since your second LP is way less Sleepy than this song, for example.

Can I ask though what your purpose is in publicly renouncing this as derivative? I can see how that sort of dismissive cynicism could actually lend authenticity in a field as nihilistic as "doom", but that seems kinda doublethinky, so I've probably got you wrong.

It's a decent imitation of both bands. That's really what we were going for. I wrote songs like this to try to ride the coat tails of bands like Sleep and Electric Wizard that achieved a level of success with this style. If you think it's better, hey, I guess the plan to cop this style worked quite well, so thanks.

Listen Andy, sorry but fuck you. This shit is way better than Sleep. It's way better than Electric Wizard. This is the standard. I mean just listen to it...Huge.

Really? I don't even know what his singing voice sounds like. Definitely not a Zakk Wylde fan. Black Pyramid definitely sounds like a lot of other bands though, that was always kind of the point, to try to sound like other bands. A few songs I think we sounded like something else entirely, just very few here and there.

well see, i haven't heard a good band that didn't sound like 5 other good bands. it comes with the territory i reckon
