I really like a lot of songs by Bjm .You 'll find many songs of them in my favorites here in youtube as well . I just find them to be a little narcissistic and unoriginal. I got you all wrong it seems , thinking you meant it was the bjm who started the scene in the 90s .

you do realize that bjm and spacemen 3 are close friends, right? and anton released demo's in early 90's spanning across much more than just shoegaze, not to mention his other bands before bjm. you clearly dislike them, and I clearly like them, so lets no argue over it, we just aren't going to see eye to eye. I'm not saying bjm started the scene, thats asinine, it never left. but they sure as hell influenced alot of offshoots of psyche, ere go I see them as thee revivalists. just an opinion man

Their 2 first records where shoegaze , not only methodrone which was the second . The praisley underground which i mentioned was the first revival of that old sound . Bjm didn't come out of nowhere they were around same time spiritualized , telescopes , spetrum , flying saucer attack were and before them as I mentioned spacemen 3 existed , which is the band bjm copied their sound from . If someone revived that sound in the late 80s early 90s it was spacemen not fucking bjm posers .

started as shoegaze? in 96 when they actually churned out albums, there was only one shoegaze album (methodrone), their satanic majesties was pure psyche, and then take it from the man was folk. so idk what you're talking about with that, and the bands you named sounded like offshoots of "The Church"'s psyche scene from the 70-80's, doesn't resemble bjm's flavor whatsoever to me

No bro ... just no . Brian jonestown massacre ,began as a shoegaze band with a sound similar to that of lush and pail saints . Then they evolved adding more proto-punk , acoustic and drone elements to their sound imitating much spacemen 3 . They started jack shit . As Jimbooster said Rain parade and the Paisley underground scene started it . With a few bands from Uk imitating the 60s sound with a bit of a different approach later on .

I really mean "classic psych rock" with sound of Jefferson Airplane, The Byrds, The Doors, Love and such, and not stoner rock that's been largely produced today. Maybe I exagerated but this is pure 60s sound, so authentic. BJM is brilliant too, and it's largely responsible why there's such psychedelic rock comeback nowadays.

ya think so? I don't really hear their influence on much of the 90's psyche scene. idk why but I always just saw them as the last stand of the psyche movement in the 80s that The Church (steve kilby and co) were a major part of

I love BA, but they are far from the saviors of classic psych rock. if anything Brian Jonestown Massacre are the saviors, these guys are great too but seem like an offshoot of the scene bjm started in the 90's

This is so fuckin' fantastic. I can't believe something like this is being produced today. These guys are savior of classic psychedelic rock, with heaven melodies and tripped-out colors in their sound. I can't get enough of this song, I want more (and Phosgene Nightmare is probably best compilation of B-Sides ever released, can't believe they didn't released this on their latest album) !
