Bing Crosby - Whiffenpoof Song 1947 Fred Waring Orchestra - Yale University Song - "The Whiffenpoof Song", based on a tune written by Tod Galloway (Amherst 1895) and adapted with lyrics by Meade Minnigerode (Yale 1910) & George S Pomeroy (Yale 1910) (though in fact a parody of Rudyard Kipling's Gentlemen Rankers)

Very popular during the war. You hear it in a lot of WW 2 movies and TV shows.

Bing Crosby has a wonderful voice, so don't be offended when I say ... after going through the top hits of this era, no wonder my parents grew old so fast and had issues. I'm not crazy about pop in recent times either. Probably would have been a big jazz head or folk. Still can't acquire a taste for crooning w/this type of orchestra arrangement.
