A couple of folks have asked if this is Neil LeVang featured, and that is an affirmative - as a matter of fact, there are at least 5 Lawrence Welk alumni in the orchestra (Dick Dale, Micky McMahon, Bob Smale, LeVang, and Laroon Holt). Also, you have Zeke Zarchy, who was with the original Glenn Miller orchestra, Don Bagley who was a Stan Kenton alumnus, as well as some other top musicians. Billy Vaughn has a great band here to be sure - I have the whole concert on DVD, and it's all great music.

On this day in 2010 {July 31st} a plaque was dedicated on the Walk of Fame in Plainview, Texas honoring the home town group, The String-A-Longs... On January 9th, 1961 the String-A-Longs' "Wheels" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #3 and spent 16 weeks on the Top 100... Was ranked at #8 on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1961 chart... It was covered by Billy Vaughn, also in 1961, his version reached #28 and entered the Top 100 on February 6th, 1961...

Can anyone confirm whether the guitarist in this song is Nel de Vang who played Scarlet O Hara in Lawrence Welk Orchestra in 1963. He looks vague familiar although he has aged somewhat. Thanks

Thank you for identifying the guitar work of Neil Levang. Since Vaughn and Welk were both with the Dot label it is natural that Neil would lend his talents to both orchestras.

Nelson Deroso, thank you for posting a video of Billy Vaughn. Not much is ever seen concerning his live performances since he spent most of his efforts at being a session only band and as a record company executive. Billy Vaughn shaped and promoted many wonderfully successful recording artists as well as his own enormous success as a recording artist. Again thank you.

Billy Vaughn's original recording of this song was Top 5 in Japan, NO. 3 in Austria, No 7 in Mexico and No. 1 in Germany for 14 weeks 1,000,000 plus sales there along). It was also No. 1 in New Zealand, India, and Italy. I enjoy watching Neil Lavang playing it here. He was a regular on the Lawrence Welk show for years.
