Charted at #2 on Billboard Hot 100 in December 1954. Billy's first hit with his orchestra. Other charting versions: #3 for the Four Aces in January 1955, #8 for David Carroll in January 1955, #19 for Frank Sinatra and Ray Anthony in January 1955, #30 for Leo Diamond in February 1955, all in the US, and #10 for the Ink Spots on the UK Singles chart in April 1955.

Original Billboard review: "Fiddles project the slow waltz melody for a relaxing side, with sax helping out on solo. The effort has an ingratiating old-fashioned quality and should earn some spins." Billboard rating: 69 out of 100.

Written by Hans Engelmann & Tom Glazer.

B-side is "Joy Ride".

What I like of the music of this era is the serenity of it all. Nothing crazy or hurried up, just calm and calm inducing.

I was only five years old when this song became a hit record and on the "hit parade" television station in 1954. - I remember my mother use to listen to this on the radio and hit parade all the time. I think Lawrence Welk also played it on his show. She played it once in a dinner counter juke box while she Took me along with my cousin to get an Ice Cream Soda. Never heard the words to it, just the most beautiful music and memories of childhood days growing up in Jamaica, Queens, N.Y.

Possibly the most beautiful melody I have ever listened to. And this orchestration is so incredibly beautiful. I could listen to it for hours.

So far I like this version, the quality is great and I have listened to most on youtube. My dad taught me to waltz to this song, this version. I loved to watch my parents dance to it. Thanks
