Lyrics:Strapped on my holster low across my hipsTwo Colt .45’s with black plastic gripsAnd I’d head west through our neighborhoodAnd they’d say“Here comes young Billy and he’s up to no good”I rode a trail through the neighbor’s backyardShootin’ the bad guys through my handlebarsKnown for my bravery both far and nearBein’ late for supper was my only fearCHORUS:I miss Billy the KidThe times that he hadThe life that he livedI guess he must’ve got caughtHis innocence lostI wonder where he isI miss Billy the KidThese days I don’t know whose side to be onThere’s such a thin line between right and wrongI live and learn, do the best I canBut there’s only so much you can do as a manCHORUS:I miss Billy the KidThe times that he hadThe life that he livedI guess he must’ve got caughtHis innocence lostI wonder where he isI miss Billy the KidCHORUS:I miss Billy the KidThe times that he hadThe life that he livedI guess he must’ve got caughtHis innocence lostI wonder where he isI miss Billy the Kid(*Short Instrumental*)(*Song Ends*)

Ah, brings back memories.  Not fond memories or special memories.  Just memories of seeing the video on CMT :D

the golden era of country. I was in my early teens and I'd give anything to go back and have another shot

I have met billy personally and he is really nice, my mother is friends with him and went to school with him, I go to the same school as he used to go to and he does fundraisers for the school

Was that the mom from"Malcolm in the Middle" making him fear being late for supper?

When I was younger I thought this song was about Billy the Kid the outlaw. I think it was because the 'Young Guns' films were popular around that time.

Sure wish CMT Music was still called CMT Pure. I really miss the Pure Vintage video blocks. They ought to be brought back!

This song is a memory of my childhood. Summer of '93 , me and my friends Kyle, and Parnell had our cap guns holstered, saddled up on our bikes and went looking for outlaws. I remember I was the sheriff and Kyle wanted to be Billy the kid. We argued for a while about whether or not Billy the kid was an outlaw or good guy. We started quoting lyrics from this song. I insisted he was an outlaw because it said "I guess he must have got caught. His innocence lost". Kyle insisted that he was a good guy because it said "shooting the bad guys through my handlebars". We agreed that he could be my deputy and be Billy the kid too. We tied some twine from a low tree limb and hung some of our action figures. I still remember explaining to Mom that the G.I. Joes were outlaws.
