I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints...the sinners are much more fun...only the good die young!

I am a product of the 80s and couldn't really enjoy Billy Joel during this decade. I will say this is one of my favorite songs and ironically was introduced to me by my 12th grade English teacher 10 years ago. The magic of this song is the fact that the catchy beat is completely contradictory to the lyrics which are kind of heavy. I love it when artists do that with music. This song is simply genius.
