This is the remake version recorded in the 1980's. I was looking for the recording accidently released on a Holland compilation, recorded March 14, 1963. The version released in 1963 was recorded a week later on March 21, 1963. It's too bad the original demo recording no longer exists (?). Which is just John Lennon and his guitar apologizing at the end of the tape stating "Sorry, this was the only quiet room I could find." The tape ends with the sound of a toilet flushing.

Yup. Back then I listened to WMEX practically all the time. They also played 'How do you do it' by Gerry and the Pacemakers and 'Louie Louie' by Paul Revere and the Raiders months before the Kingsmen hit with it.

That's the station I heard it on back all those years. When the Beatles arrived I always wondered who had done the first version I heard, which was a #1 hit in the UK back then.

@Catacang put "Billy J Kramer Do You Want To Know A Secret " on the search engine n take the third video (also the second, but the third sounds better): that's the version of Pan Am ;-) Well, at least i hope it works cause i'm typing from italy and the search engine might be related to the italian domain...

@Catacang this version is slightly different from the version u can listen on Pan Am: that's still a Billy J Kramer version, but it's another version ;-) I don't know how to put the link on here, youtube give me an error message, but i found the link to that version...(the video isn't mine)

Granted it is a cover of the Beatles song, But this version got a lot of air play on WMEX in Boston in 1963, 6 months before the Beatles hit with I want to hold your hand and She loves you. At the time it was new and pretty exciting. American rock and roll had gotten pretty stale.

@Catacang which is the pan am version of this song? I mean the version on the last 2 minutes of the episode: it's not this one...like this one, but it's not this one, it sounds like a mix between this version and the beatles version...
