What a record. Billy Fury sings David Bowie back in 1968. Great song sung by one of Britain's finest.

Silly Boy Blue was also arranged by Alan Tew, who wrote the theme for Doctor in the House and Mother Makes Three amongst other things.

The B-Side is a Bee Gees Song 'One Minute Woman'.

A terrific cover of a lovely song. Thanks to Billy Fury for giving David Bowie's work a chance to be heard, I bet it meant a lot to him.

This has been a Bowie favorite of mine for 40 years and I never had heard this version before. And, I love it!

Superb. Dare I say better than DB? Both excellent artists though.

I love Bowie, but I much prefer this version of the song. Much better produced, and Billy's singing is much more dramatic and nicer to listen to.

Billy's cd Wonderous Story, only contains the Decca records hit years. This was from 1968 when he had left Decca for Parlophone. Radio never played these releases, which is why probably you've never heard it. None of his 11 Parlophone singles charted & are now worth a lot of money in mint condition. It was witten by David Bowie & Billy was the first person ever to cover a Bowie song in the world anywhere. I hope this info helps.

Thanks. It was an official release in 1968, but I don't think it charted. By the way the other side is a song written by the Bee Gee's "One Minute Woman" which is also very good. All in all a great single release.

You have a great You Tube account; so many songs being played with photos of the records. Great! So this was "a hidden gem"? I have been a member of Billy Fury's fan club so I'll look up more details in the magazines I received. Thanks.

I've never heard this song before. I don't remember it from the late 60's either. I'm a huge Billy Fury fan and have his "Wondrous Story" CD; it's not on there. I only found this out by chance today when I was reading about David Bowie on Wiki.
