You are absolutely right. Eckstein was the master but Prysock and Hartman belong up there with him. Prysock had a poor arranger on some of his stuff. Have you heard Everette Green?

Although this was recorded after Billy's prime, everyone who knows and understands real music will agree that he was one of the greatest crooners that ever lived.

Voices such as Billy Eckstein, Arthur Prysock, Johhny Hartman are simply pure gold. How much we miss hearing those great voices with their velvety, smooth tone.. These were truly Manly voices. We truly miss them!! Thank you YouTube for bringing back such memories.

We old timers, know Lamont. It must have been one of the best paying gigs in the biz back in the day. Instead of club dates, you got to play big venues with Billy. This song, written by Ray Noble, was my Dad's favorite song.

Yeah it did, and he helped them put 'em back on....., the following morning. How many people know he had the greatest assemblage of musicians in history in his band? It sounds like a who's who of be-bop masters. Dizzie Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Dexter Gordon, Tadd Dameron, and Sarah Vaughn was lead female vocalist. Get out of here!

Mr Eckstine, Mr Prysock, Mr Nat Cole, Mr Mathis and the balladeers of that era left us such a great body of work to enjoy. Thanks to them and thanks to those who post these great works today.

I love Billy but there's way too much vibrato on this one. Not one of my favourites.
