@pjbaldes Okay, now we're cookin'. I thought at first there was some obscure band called "Pollard" I'd never heard of. I don't know why I never thought that before: Robert Pollard DOES sound a bit like Billy Childish, doesn't he? Did BC influence GBV in any other ways, I wonder. . .

Robert Pollard, singer for Guided by Voices and many solo projects... the first line (and many more) of that song sounds so Pollard. He is my singing hero. GBV....

@pjbaldes And I still don't know who/what Pollard is! Billy Childish, mastermind of Thee Headcoates (you might have seen my Thee Headcoats - "Girl From '62" vid) -- well worth looking into. Plenty of him on tube. The first one I heard was "Headcoat Lane." A big favorite.
