"I'll Look Around" is a 1946 song with Music and Lyrics by George Cory & Douglass Cross.

Billie's accompanied by Joe Guy tp; Joe Springer p; Tiny Grimes g; Billy Taylor b; Kelly Martin ds. Recorded March 13, 1946, New York. (Decca Records)

I'll look around until I've found

Someone who laughs like you

I'll know somewhere spring must fill the air

With sweetness just as rare

As the flower that you gave me to wear

I'll look around and when I've found

Someone who sighs like you

I'll know this love I'm dreaming of

Won't be the old love I always knew

I'll know somewhere spring must fill the air

With sweetness just as rare

As the flower that you gave me to wear

I'll look around and when I've found

Someone who sighs like you

I'll know this love I'm dreaming of

Won't be the old love I always knew

TONE B HURT

Such a special poignant song by Lady Day. Very plaintive interpretation but her phrasing speaks volumes. This puts me in mind of two other special songs she did "Mandy Is Two" and "Some Other Spring". This was recorded April 9, 1946 for DECCA records New York. The group features Billy Kyle-piano, Thomas Barney-bass, Jimmy Shirley-guitar, Kenny Clarke-drums and Joe Guy-trumpet. This is one of my favorite not so well knowns songs by her.

Je dois dire qu'il y avait tant d'ups and downs dans ma vie, tant de révolutions et de changements - mais il y avait toujours une constante: cette musique et cette artiste.
