If there's one thing that I think that anyone listening to this song should pay close-attention to, it's what is known as: the Orchestration. As a former studio musician, and jazz performer, I grew up during the period in American music (1960 - 1985) which many refer to as the Renaissance Era of American Recorded music. That is when this album was recorded. When you talk about "orchestration," listen to how all of the instruments playing, weave in and out of the project. In perfect syncopation.

My husband and I both love this song, it reminds both of us of when we trying to get to know one another. That was at least twenty-nine years ago. Thanks Bill

I've become a huge Bill Withers fan, largely because of this song. I grew up listening to all of his early music but was too young to appreciate it. I heard this song performed by Syreeta Wright first. It was my favorite song on her 1980 "Syreeta" album. I went back to find the original and loved them both. It's been said hundreds of times in these threads - Bill Withers is an underrated treasure.

whenever i ask someone if they've heard of Bill Withers they say no, then i start to list some of his hits like Lean on me, Use me, Lovely Day, Aint no Sunshine when she's gone, Just the two of us, Who is he and what is he to you,and Grandma's hands, then they say " Oh, i know all of those songs. I didn't know he sung them" so when i think of Bill Withers i think of the only artist whos songs are more famous than his name!!!

This song is so very beautiful! Did Bill write and perform this song? I could be wrong but it seems someone else recorded this song too. How about Leon Russell? Yeah, I think I remember hearing Leon do this song. It's such a great song and Bill ..can't say enough good words about you! Fabulous talent!!
