I first heard this played by Ian and Sylvia, a fine duo from Canada. It's been a staple for me for over 40 years, whenever I've felt sad.I'm looking forward to meeting Bill when he sings with my chorus, The Mystic Chorale in May. I've already fallen in love with some of the songs he's written.

Yes. Bill plays left handed and up-side-down.

Are the strings set up for a right-hand player? I.e., treble on TOP and bass at the bottom, opposite the way you'd normally arrange strings??

I've been singing this song since about 1966. As Bill talks about, it's the song that set me on that folk-singer road. While (of course) I like my way of playing it, I truly do love Bill's version and style on this. Mr. Staines has been a mentor of mine for many years, and may his music live on for many more.
