I'm a teenager and to me, there's absolutely no better music than bluegrass music, because it's real. Go bluegrass

Bill Monroe was the greatest musician off 'modern-times', some of his works such as Tallahasie even rivalled the Classical greats, even Elvis, Johnny Cash, Marc- Bolan, Queen etc couldn't touch him!

I'm not an expert at this stuff, but does the fiddler make a very slight break at about 1:43. Sound like it, then he looks up and smiles sheepishly and looks at the guitar player to see if he noticed. I may be wrong, but that's what it looked/sounded like. Maybe someone out there who knows better can inform us.

Uncle pen played the fiddle, Lord how it would ring, you could hear it talk, you could hear it sing!

Another great b&w clip with this Bluegrass Boy configuration: PETE ROWAN, gtr; GENE LOWINGER, fiddle; DON LINEBURGER (left-handed), banjo; JAMES MONROE, bass.

"I'll never forget that mournful dayWhen Uncle Pen was called awayThey hung up his fiddle, they hung up his bowThey knew it was time for him to go"We are listening to this song here in our computers, while the man who sang these verses died 17 years ago... they have a deeper meaning now :p But of course, his mandolin keeps talking and singing like uncle pen's violin.

that is so very true! I'm glad there's someone out there that knows good music from the slick stuff with stiff people clutching that microphone like it's what holding them on the planet! awful music today isn't it

I love how they used to gather round the one microphone to play their music, none of this modern recording and getting everything perfect, these boys just played live and get it perfect every time no bother! Thanks for uploading
