Over the years, Bill Frisell has been the subject of numerous Fretboard Journal videos and articles. Our latest glimpse at the guitar visionary is this poignant video of him performing George and Ira Gershwin's "Embraceable You." Frisell is performing on his Andersen archtop plugged directly into a Carr Sportsmen.

"It's a song I've been hearing my whole life, but I just started trying to play it yesterday," Frisell admitted during the taping. He could have fooled us. Look for an interview between Frisell and Wilco's Nels Cline in 2014 in an early 2014 Fretboard Journal.

Go to the FJ's website - fretboardjournal.com - to see even more exclusive interviews, podcasts, performance videos and more. The Fretboard Journal is the guitarist's bible, featuring in-depth interviews with legendary players and builders, photo essays and more. Every three months, subscribers receive a new, 128 page keepsake issue of the magazine in the mail.

You really can't judge this guitar's tone listening to it on your computer speakers with mp3 esque you tube sound. I have this guitar... plug it into a Tone King Meteor... then you'll know. Frisell has been playing Andersen guitars for long time because he loves them. I've owned plenty of tone dead Gibson arch tops.... pretty much done with them.In fact, there's a 40's L5 down at our local music store that hasn't sold in 3 years because it's a truly dead sounding guitr. Looks killer though... !

For some reason when I think of Bill Frisell, I don't think of jazz guitar. Not sure why he's so successful. And this performance doesn't help.

Bill Frisell is a true creative and supreme genius (This guitar does not give justice to his playing. it sounds too thin)

Master player guitar sounds like ass. He deserves a better axe like a Gibson Johnny Smith etc.

Master player. I always think that carved archtops sound thin though.
