La version 1959 du Bill Evans trio est marquante : Bill Evans y applique une politique nouvelle et déterminante de parité des trois instruments; ContreBasse et Batterie ne sont pas au service de ... mais s'expriment à égalité.Après une exposition du thème courte et syncopée, un solo de contrebasse avec piano en contrepoint, la reprise à l'unisson à 2'00 est somptueuse; emmené par la cymbale ride de Paul Motian et la contrebasse de Scott LaFaro, Bill Evans, toxicomane avéré (ce que son portrait ne laisse pas préjuger) nous conduit assez loin et assez haut.
