One more from Bill Deal, Ammon Tharp & the Rhondels....their third and highest charting single, making it to #23 on the hot 100. With tunes as great as this, why didn't they do better on the charts? This promo had the same song on both sides (in mono on both sides) so it was obvious what side the record company was pushing...too bad they don't make records as good as this today! Like their last record, this one was also written by Ray Whitley and was first recorded by the Tams, who took it to #9 in 1963. Enjoy!

Bass player is the great Dan Quisenberry. Nice playing on the outro.

Great take on the Tams! Yeah, why don't we hear this kind of stuff anymore. It stands well all by itself, and I've never heard these guys before. They're different even compared to back in the day, just like a lot of the other music was back then...more variety imo

William's left hand "Vox Bass Pack" finesse was amazing. As w/The Doors, usually sans bassist. But always bottom to rock the hard wood..

These fellows were from Va. Beach, Va.. Maybe this is why they did not make it so great? My Dad drove them all over the East Coast as their personal driver. My Dad worked for Brown's Limos,(Yellow Cab of Norfolk). I met them many of times.
