In honor of J. Dilla being one of the most influential producers of all time, I decided to lay a verse to one of my favorite tracks off of J. Dilla's Donuts. Being from Detroit I feel I have a responsibility to honor his legacy n continue it in my own way. His soul will live forever...

RIP J. Dilla

The best antidote I know for worry is work. The best cure for weariness is the challenge of helping someone who is even more tired. One of the great ironies of life is this: he or she who serves almost always benefits more than he or she who is served.

of course Dilla didnt make this beat so others could rap over it... this level of beat is beyond any music genre, cant be compared... Im sure he did it because he so high on music enjoying himself, I can imagine him nodin his head to this for hours after done choppin

Phenomenal beat, its such an overpowering beat its quite intimidating for a rapper to tackle it. Like its got a lot of elements to it. Big sean gave it a decent shot. I cant really think of an MC who would fit this beat perfectly though, maybe gambino idk.

One of my favorite J dilla tunes. A truly terrible remix.

+benja303 -Just my humble opinion- Dilla made instrumentals, and MCs rap over instrumentals. However, there are certain instrumentals which welcome a verse over them, and some where the verse distracts from the instrumental. Dilla produced in Slum V and these instrumentals are an example of the former. An album like Donuts, on the other hand, is so very technical, detailed, and layered that it sounds strange w/ vocals (considering you're familiar with it prior). Some of the songs sound good with verses over them (ex: DOOM's "Lightworks, but even that's a stretch). In a perfect world, this album is left alone completely and nobody raps over it. Donuts is spectacular.

Yall sound stupid as hell. Dilla made the beat so people would rap to it. He would be proud to see a prominent detriot rapper use his beats all this time later.

I can tell that Big Sean probably never spit over a Dilla beat. Better yet, he prolly never even heard of J Dilla prior to recording this shit
