Bhi Bhiman - Walk of Life (Dire Straits Cover)

The inspiration to do this covers record came from one song. It was "Walk of Life", by Dire Straits. I knew the song since being a kid, and I've always thought of it as Mark Knopfler's nod to Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode". The song really rings true with me because, in a way, its my story too. So I started doing a live version, in a country blues style with the audience whistling along, and it became a highlight of my shows.

For the video, I used footage of the greatest physical comedian of all time, Buster Keaton. His ability to play with physical objects, combined with his athleticism, were a perfect compliment to this song.

Bhi Bhiman has a new album coming out, and he is well worth the listen.As for this song, I don't have the fondest memories of the 1980s, and Bhiman's cover of the Dire Straits helps lessen some of my antipathy. Buster Keaton is, of course, a reality unto himself.

Saw Bhi for the first time in Madison, Wi with Chris Cornell. Outstanding, uplifting music. We drove 8 hours to the show and were blown away! Like I told Bhi after the show, "Nobody told me I should be listening to you." Great guy and musician!!!!!
