dude its called an opinion. theres seven hundred singers that sound like ripper and he sings the fucking same on every god damn song.and when he sings soft he sounds exactly like elmer fudd. to top it off he goes by the name "ripper".. if you like that then good for you. but barlow is one half step short of being able to sing in four octaves and he may actually be able too there just isnt any recorded evidence of it. thats range. if you dont like how i feel then get over it.

Barlow greatly over emotes and drives it all into cartoon territory. The Ripper takes it into natural places, and allows us to feel human emotions. You should try to understand honest emotion, and climb out of your 4 walled box of bullshit. Just a suggestion...

the remakes of of "cominh curse" "prophecy" and "birth of the wicked" are all down tuned. ripper is a good singer with no emotion. when barlow sings the songs it sounds like hes actually feeling the song. ripper does not. my opinion. get over it.

What? Ripper has sung as low. Check his material in Priest. And you saying "matt can sing high low soft rough growl ect. just a better singer", is just ridiculous, because you are insinuating that Ripper doesn't do those all, yet he does ALL the time. You are trying to tear down a vocal master because you have a memory of youth tied to another. Ripper has all the abilities of Barlow, and displays them with more perfection. And give ONE example of a song Schaffer had to drop down for Ripper...

I saw a page that listed the "worst" metal albums of all time. Among them was 'Nostradamus' by Judas Priest. WTF? I own that one, and it's one of my favorite albums of all time. Then it's Priest's 'Demolition.' I'm not familiar with that. But the author says that Ripper is not worthy of any stage, and that he should've stayed home. EXCUSE ME? Critics can suck it. Ripper is a HELL of a vocal talent.

Why people need to compare Owens with Barlow and Halford? Each one has his own style, his own technique .... they are all great singers, graced with amazing voice .... that is all that matters

@laynestaley1990 Tim is just as varied as Barlow, and can sing the way low stuff too. Tim does all kinds of different things with is vocals, including things I've not heard Barlow attempt. I'm guessing you have only heard maybe one cd the Ripper has sang on, because if you listen to his vocals variations in his many different projects, you would see his range of ability is pretty much boundless. And as far as power, he can sustain the long highs + mids with much more ease and volume than Barlow.

@MultipleScrotum he has a HIGHER range. not a larger. he cannot sing as low as barlow. schaffer had to drop down some of the old songs so that ripper could sing a higher key on them. power? ive only heard him sing soft or high. matt can sing high low soft rough growl ect. just a better singer.. IN MY OPINION. i dont like shreiking high vocals on every song all the time.

@laynestaley1990 You are WAY wrong. Tim Owens is the better singer. He has more range, power, and control than Matt does.

Its like Priest meets Sepultura. I love it! And Iced Earth is better with their other singer.
