Emo (or emocore, as it was originally called) was a term for an offshoot of hardcore punk that first came into use around 1987 or so. The original "emo" bands were extremely hardcore and screamy, unlike the second wave of emo bands in the early to late nineties, which were more focused on pretty melodies but shared the first-wavers' penchant for extremely personal and introspective lyrics. Anyway, BTE don't quite preceed emo, which hasn't really even been around since around 2000.

Better Than Ezra have been around SO much longer than any of the sh*t Emo bands, and they're also indescribably better.

dude, they precede anything qualified as emo. they've been called a lot of things, but emo is not one of them. these guys have been around since 1989...

I'm British and unfortunately Better Than Ezra aren't well known over here at all, but I got into them when I spent some time in America and absolutely love them. Their music always sounds fresh and this song is one of my favourites. They have so many good songs though it's hard to pick a favourite. Great band and I hope they put out a new album soon, and hopefully come to England to play some gigs!

alot of great bands play on pop up stages that take 20 mins to set up..and enjoy every minute of it..its the music not the stage or audience retards
