The layering of each vocal track, the ad libed scats and that trademark wail...There is only ONE Chaka Khan!: ).

I saw them just before "Ask Rufus" was released -- the digital remaster sounds better than the original

All i'm gonna say about Butlers song is that it has the best INTRO TO ANY SONG THERE HAS EVER BIN', ANY ADVANCE. mmmmmmmm. OH YEA, IF YOU WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ALIVE IN 1978 THEN YOU HAD A GRINDING GOOD TIME ON THE DANCE FLOOR, IN YOUR BEDROOM AND ON YOUR LADY.Yea I know it's hard to understand the groove if you can't dance, but you know you can catch the groove if you stand close enough to someone who already has it, and no. you can't feel the groove with your ears, you gotta moooooooooooooov

hey girls and boys, how about we vote for best soul album of 1978, the best musical year in the last 10,000 years. well I'm starting with Barry Whites Blue album hu hu hu, any advance. mmmmmmmmmm, ok I know Kleeer had a carpet burner in 1984 and the Chiltes 1965 album matches Barry's, but the sheer number and QUALITY of albums made in 78 just rubs the floor. Ok, still with me, how about the best soul single of all time, I'm gonna start you off with JERRY BUTLER'S CHALK IT UP

Love this song! Singing, music, melody are all so on-point! Found myself singing this just the other day. Not sure why. But why try to figure out a mystery? I can just enjoy it!

Regardless of the personal they crafted perfection in the studio. Truth

This song was so far from the truth of what was happening behind the scenes. According to Chaka Khan's autobiography, while the album was being done, her husband Richard Holland and band member Andre Fischer got into a serious fight and she tried to break it up and he started going after her. After that, Andre was out of the group. Certainly not better days.

Chaka khan and Rufus bring so much good music where ever they performed. This song is a great jam underrated big time. The bass player could play with such a soulful sound.I saw them in concert years ago and they came to San Diego with The Brothers Johnson. Both groups put on a fantastic performance!Fond memories in my youth.

I'm sure winpointmedia is speaking of terrestrial radio, not indie stations like spicypimpsradio or Gilles' show.
