I love the unique musical approach to the Goddess chant and the lyrics, yet I must agree that the use of Baphomet is unwarranted.Baphomet is an objectified image drawn by Eliphas Levi, who was a Catholic ceremonial magician. Baphomet was used by the Knights Templar, which is a crusading order.Each to their own and I mean no disrespect, however similar Baphomet may appear to imagery of the Horned God of Nature; actually Baphomet has been used as a symbol of Patriarchal dualism and is associated with demonic ceremonial magic- where the patriarchal magician commands and compels low-level spirits often referred to as demons, to do his bidding.Levi himself personally disrespects Hecate and Lilith in his works and encourages the 'necessary evil' of calling on demonic entities to do the magician's dirty work, which includes putting curses and spells on Pagans, the so-called 'enemies of the Church' This concept is alien to people who live in harmony with the currents of Mother Nature, and no spirit or person is EVER compelled or commanded to do the will of the Goddess devotee. Forced conversions are not the way of the Goddess. The law of the Goddess is love unto all beings.In Goddess thealogy, the Yin and Yang do not represent ideas of absolute good and evil. Rather the twin pillars of darkness and light represent the Moon and the Sun, the female energies of the universe and the male energies which are present within all living.Then again, as Baphomet does appear very similar to the God of the Witches, and has the androgynous features of divinity, one could interpret it as such. However my feeling is that it carries too many demonic connotations to be of any use at all in genuine Nature-based spirituality.
