*Beth Orton-Couldn't Cause Me Harm*Ooh yeah, you knowYou couldn't cause me any harmAlthough, at times, I may get startledI'm not alarmedI can see your eyesI know when they're telling me untruthsI can feel the heartEspecially when it's on the roof of my mouthThere's no right or wrong, this isn't a testAnd I won't lose my experienceI won't try to put it asideBut it's alrightYou know that it's alrightIt's alrightIt's gonna be alrightIt's gonna be alrightAnd if I told youWould you never know to guess?Sure, what's the pointWhen little often means so much lessI can see for milesI know when you're telling me untruthsI can feel my heartEspecially now it's on the roof of my mouthThere's no right or wrong, this isn't a gestureI don't use my experienceI don't try to let it go byBut it's alrightYou know that it's alrightIt's alrightIt's gonna be alrightIt's gonna be alrightIt's gonna be alrightGonna be alrightIt's gonna be alrightSongwritersORTON, BETH/BARNES, TED/READ, SEAN/BLANCHARD, WILLIAMPublished byLyrics © EMI Music Publishing, Universal Music Publishing Group, Warner/Chappell Music, Inc.Read more: Beth Orton - Couldn't Cause Me Harm Lyrics | MetroLyrics

One of the greatest songs of all time, in my humble opinion. When this album came out, I had this song/and album on repeat for months. All my friends fell in love with it as well. Just a brilliant talent.

This is the sound of seduction by way of vulnerability.

Orton's talent as a singer and songwriter prevent her from falling into any one category. You can pick up CDs at your music dot com, (of Beths) very reasonably priced! ~take care~ ;~})

firts song i've heard from beth orton, i wasn't to much into female artists at the time and was looking for one that would do the treak for me... and than this song came on the radio on a summer afternoon 10 years ago and it was like magic...i had to tell all my friends but they already new and were listening to her for months. i still love it after all this time, hope that some day i'll be able to see her in concert.

I'd have to admit that I'm not usually a fan of female singer/songwriters but Beth Orton is such a true artist. I like Suzanne Vega and Tracy Chapman as well but I don't listen to them the way I listen to Beth Orton...especially this album. The whole cd shines. This song just happens to be one of the highlights. 'Sweetest Decline' is one of the few songs I've heard that completely circumvented my armor and overwhelmed me. Beth Orton is something special.
