Bert's music helped to live through the darkest days of my life ... I was 20 years old in 1966. Over 30 years later I met him at a folk club in Biddulph. He played 'Toy Balloon' and it completely blew me away! At the end of the night I told him how his music had helped me all those years ago and I finally had a chance to thank him. His main response was ... "yeh, but I can't do it now!" I sketched Bert while he was playing & he signed it with a pentangle. I'll never forget him. (F Devine).
