in 1972 on a motorcycle trip across the country, I found myself in the Santa Cruz bookstore on Pacifica Ave. Ah... reading a book on the floor with a cup of coffee and listening to this most incredible song/album. Years later I would find out that it was Soho, by Bert and John. What bliss...

For all my limitations at 19, I recognized this as great, and played it again and again. I believe that, back then, if it had been played often on top 40 radio, it would have been a hit. I don't know about today... Thank you very much for posting... Bert's in heaven with God, who unless I miss my guess, likes old english/scottish/irish folk songs a lot.

I used to listen to this song when I was tooling around England in my German spec left hand drive VW van, great to see over the ubiquitous hedgerows that lined either side of the back roads.

Splendid pic from two slendid musicians who will live on and outlive the mediocre. No sadnes at Bert's passing, just rejoycing at what he left behind and a promising after life. Better save the sorrow for those who sadly produced rubbish and destruction…

I was so sad to hear of Bert's death earlier this week, I have been listening to his music since I heard his 'Moonshine' album back in the early 1970's. Bert will live on in his music, and I for one will attempt to spread his legacy to as many people as possible.

Magical music. Saw you at Cousins in about 1965. You were hours late, pissed out of your head, then played the first few lines of Running From Home...dear oh dear oh dear - nothing like it! RIP Bert.
