Religious take by Voltaire

BTW i think You guys are getting confused, This guy's full name is Aurelio Voltaire Hernández, born in Cuba on January 25th, 1967.

Some of you think this is François-Marie Arouet, a French Enlightment writer who went by his Pen Name "Voltaire" born on November 21th 1694.

In other words, they are two completely different people, Just to clarify things.

Did you find what you

Were looking for?

And did you hear what you

Needed to hear?

And did I serve you well?

Did I serve you well?

Did I server any purpose?

Anyone at all?

Did you come

For redemption

Or a resurrection?

Mayhaps a bandage

For a gaping wound

I know I put one there.

Or perhaps you were bored.

Or mayhaps you were

Confused.

Did I serve any purpose?

Anyone at all?

A crown of thorns

Would suit you well

You hang there at a loss

A crown of thorns

Would suit you

I'd sake you hands

If they weren't'

Nailed to a cross

I don't want to believe

I don't ant to believe

I don't want to believe

I don't want to believe

I don't' want you to leave

And is that, is that all?

Is that, is that all you wanted?

Is that all you wanted me to know?

Is that, is that all?

I don't mind you

dragging me around

And I don't mind

as long as I know

where you're taking me

and,

did I serve you well?

Did I serve you well?

Did I serve any purpose?

Any one at all?

A crown of thorns

Would suit me well

I hang here at a loss

A crown of thorns

Would suit me

I'd lend a hand

if it weren't nailed

to a cross

My take on this song is thus: Someone is talking to a lover, and believes them to be perfect, I.e. comparing them to Christ, until they break up (likely due to a fight), and he becomes cynical about the whole affair, saying that he was perfect, (Again, a comparison to Christ) and eventually comes to regret it.

Is the only Voltaire song with another singer?

fpr all it alludes to Jesus Christ, I dont think that this song has anything to do with him. but that could just be me. it sounds way to confused and human to be talking about someone who has known his fate from the beginning.

If Jesus was human at all, I'm sure he had his moments of fear and doubt. But that's what makes it all the more meaningful that he had the courage to go through with it.

Also, read up on the Dead Sea Scrolls, Masoretic texts, the Septuagint, and the Vulgate.

What we have to interpret is what is "hell". It seems that nobody has been thrown into the lake of fire yet. He may have gone into Hades, which can mean the realm of the dead.

Go to Wikipedia, and search "Apocrypha."

Whether he went to hell depends on the denomination of Christianity. The Bible implies he does, but doesn't outright say it.

Can't we just accept that the musician and the philosopher are both awesome?

Actually there is a version where he does ask Him to stop this right before it happens. He begs and pleads for it to just end. People took it out and changed it over the years to make it seem more... whats the word... peaceful and accepting and make Jesus be the perfect savior we all believe him to be. Also there is a whole book on Eve that was thrown out of the Bible as well.

This is a really good song, just an epic song.

Considering Jesus was God in flesh (that's how Christians explained his divinity - one God, but in different form), he knew about it because he himself planned it.

I know what you are saying, but this is why Jesus Christ died for our sins, so that we no longer receive the death penalty. We are made righteous in Him, that we may also share with Him in eternal life.

i meant to thumbs this down no matter how "perfect" one may seem one always has their "flaws" and those "imperfections" in and of themselves are what truly make us unique and truly define us as "human"...even our so called "Gods" have their flaws. For instance, the Bible teaches thou shalt not kill and yet it says things like thee who covets my neighbors wife is an offense punishable by death. All Gods are hypocritical!

He never went to Hell, because he was perfect and blameless.
