I don't get why this bands so significant. I'm not new to extreme metal by any measure - I just don't get why this bands so respected and adored. I thought it might be chronologically important but 1993 is pretty late in that regard. Someone help me out.

I did speak quickely out of passion. This song is really good I realize I trashed it but its grown on me. It actually reminds me of the song pisen pro satana by root, with the vocals through a synth. I'm not sure what you'd consider "corrupt" I'm imagining dimmu borgir and cradle of shit. If when you say corrupted you mean melody was slowly added over time I have to say I really love black metal like that, Personally i feel the guitar work on crimson tears by dark fortress is amazing.

i agree and disagree with you. While most of the best black metal came out around this time there are a few groups that i don't listen to. Gorgoroth is one band i do not listen to for two reasons, for one i think their music is too straightforward cookie cutter black metal, and another is that no lyrics have ever been printed, this isn't evil its just stupid no matter how i look at it. This song, Black arts i would say is much much worse than something like "Freezing Moon" by mayhem.
