An achingly beautiful song by music superhero Richard Thompson. Based on the version from his "Celtschmerz" record, but heavily adapted for the parlor hack. It's a classic to me, and I wish I could perform it without any slop. But it's ardent slop...

Tuned to CGDGBE, Capo on 4th fret.

Main chords: X00077, 660670, 006050. Add spices and garnish as desired, but listen to Thompson's for the real fine dining. Hope you enjoy!

Terrific job. Love that D chord. Also the bass lead-ins, which I will appropriate forthwith. Sad you didn't pronounce "sadness" as "sodness." I have heard that this song is about his return to God and not, as I believed, a woman. And you are no hack. It takes guts to perform the songs of this genius.
