I figure the reason people take pride in things they were never even part of is because they themselves have nothing to be proud of personally. I guess it says a lot a about a person.

I have to agree with you. People seem to take pride in arbitrary things that they have no control over. I never really understood it either. Anything that helps people get through the day without unloading buckshot into their skull I guess.
