Beach Boys - I can hear music 1969

(a new upload in better quality)

Original by the Ronettes 1966.

This is a cover by the The Beach Boys. They released it on their 1969 album 20/20 with Carl Wilson on lead vocals, and was their first single released in stereo.

With Brian Wilson losing more and more interest in producing for the Beach Boys, younger brother Carl "stepped in" as the role of producer and lead Beach Boy.

This song is considered by many as Carl Wilson's first taste at being the "leader" of the group. The song is also notable for being the first Beach Boys song that Brian did not sing on.

'I can hear music' reached #24 in US and #10 in UK.

Ahhhhhh oooooo

This is the way

I always dreamed it would be

The way that it is, oh oh

When you are holding me

I never had a love of my own

Maybe that's why when we're all alone

I can hear music

I can hear music

The sound of the city baby seems to disappear

I can hear music

Sweet sweet music

Whenever you touch me baby

Whenever you're near

Lovin' you

It keeps me satisfied

And I can't explain, oh no

The way I'm feeling inside

You look at me we kiss and then

I close my eyes and here it comes again

I can hear music

I can hear music

The sound of the city baby seems to disappear

I can hear music

Sweet sweet music

Whenever you touch me baby

Whenever you're near

I hear the music all the time, yeah

I hear the music, hold me tight now baby

I hear the music all the time

I hear the music

I hear the music (baby)

Ahhhhh

I can hear music

I can hear music

The sound of the city baby seems to disappear

I can hear music

I have to come here, to hear real musicians perform from years gone by. The tripe they call music nowdays is a joke. The music industry today is a sad mess with nothing really unique . The bands have nearly all gone.

in the 70´s and 80´s Carl was basically the boss in the Beach Boys. He was the lead singer, lead guitarist and musical director

I really like this song and especially Carl Wilson's vocal. I saw them twice in the 80's with Carl Wilson has the lead guitar and musical director. They really put on great shows.

Carl sounds like the lead singer from the turtles. Or does the lead singer from the turtles sound like Carl?

You can talk about the drama between the band mates ,whether someone is an arse , menace, corny etc. but the Beach Boys brought a great unique sound with great writing, great vocals, great harmonies, and great musician ship. The drama does not matter to me. The only thing that matters is this is great music and Carl's voice is top notch! The harmonies are great. The Beach Boys were and are great! It's a shame that Carl and Dennis are gone!
