John Cowsil's the man! He stole the show at York Racecourse this past weekend, especially on 'Help Me, Rhonda' and 'Wild Honey.' Champion!

Pianoman 70s style

I thought that John Cowsill's vocal was right on the money. It also seems fitting. He lost two of his brothers in the Cowsill family and Brian Wilson lost two of his brothers. So he is the right choice, not to mention he sings it really well and plays drums like the missing Dennis Wilson.

Saw them tonight and he was the highlight to me by far. I feel their overall live sound owes so much to him. He plays his rear off, is so dynamic and sexy to watch, and, sings good too.

If you are over 50, and had a TV in the house from 1967 on, John Cowsill is far from an unknown. Him and his siblings are an American treasure. Hell's bells sailor, I mean Chief, the whole family has talent to burn. If ignorance were bliss, some folks would be kneeling at the pearly gates.

... as much as Brian, Carl and Dennis? um, ah,... I think not. That said, John's lead vocal here is very good. He's no Carl, but he's good. Peace , JP

I don't understand the malice that so readily (and predictably) pours forth in reaction to something as innocuous as the rendition of "somebody else's song". I loved nearly everything sung by Carl Wilson, this song being the only real exception. I thought it was to high a register, strained his voice, was too fast a tempo, and even worse when performed live. This had a much better groove to my taste, and Cowsill did a fantastic job that I'm sure would have made Carl smile from ear to ear.
